System Description

  1. FUEL LID OPENER COMPONENTS
Fuel Lid Opener Switch Detects fuel lid opener switch operation and sends fuel lid open request signal to the ECM.
Fuel Lid Courtesy Switch Sends the fuel lid open/close status signal to the ECM.
Fuel Lid Opener Motor Assembly Actuates to open the fuel lid according to signal from the ECM.
ECM When the ECM receives a signal from the fuel lid opener switch, it actuates the fuel lid opener motor.
    • Inputs a signal from the fuel tank pressure sensor.
    • When the fuel tank internal pressure exceeds 1.76 kPa, the hybrid vehicle control ECU operates the fuel vapor containment valve.
    • Detects status of the fuel lid courtesy switch.
Multi-information Display The operating state of fuel lid opener system is displayed on the multi-information display.
  2. FUEL LID OPENER SYSTEM FUNCTION
    1. When the fuel lid opener switch is pressed, a fuel lid open request signal is sent to the hybrid control ECU, and the fuel lid opener motor actuates to open the fuel lid.

      HINT:

When the fuel tank internal pressure exceeds 1.76 kPa, the fuel vapor containment valve is used to adjust the pressure. If the fuel tank internal pressure is 4.0 kPa or more, "PLEASE WAIT NOW OPENING" is displayed on the multi-information display. If the fuel tank internal pressure is greater than 1.76 kPa, the multi-information display will remain off until the fuel tank internal pressure drops to 1.76 kPa, at which point the multi-information display will show "REFUEL READY".

      NOTE:
      • If the fuel tank pressure sensor or fuel vapor containment valve is malfunctioning, the fuel lid does not open.
      • If the fuel lid courtesy switch is malfunctioning, "CLOSE FUEL LID" is displayed on the multi-information display even if the fuel lid is closed.
