Fuel Lid Opener does not Operate: Procedure
- CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SFI SYSTEM)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
- Check the DTC(s) and freeze frame data, and write them down.
- Check the details of the DTC(s).RESULT:
Result Proceed to DTC is output A DTC is not output B

B: Go to next step
- INSPECT FUSE (FUEL OPN)
- Remove the FUEL OPN fuse from the instrument panel junction block.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition FUEL OPN fuse Always Below 1 Ω
NG → REPLACE FUSE (FUEL OPN)
OK: Go to next step
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.
- Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.ENGINE AND ECT:
Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Fuel Lid Switch Fuel lid opener switch status: ON or OFF ON: Fuel lid opener switch is pushed
OFF: Fuel lid opener switch is not pushed- OK
On the Techstream screen, the item changes between ON and OFF according to the chart above.

OK: Go to next step
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test.
- Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.ENGINE AND ECT:
Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Activate the Fuel Filler Opener Activate the fuel filler door opener ON / OFF Confirm that engine is stopped OK
Fuel lid is opened by Active Test.

- INSPECT FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
- Remove the fuel lid opener motor. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Apply battery voltage to the lock control and check the motor operates in the open direction.
Standard
Measurement Condition Specified Condition Battery positive (+) → Terminal 2
Battery positive (-) → Terminal 1Motor operates and shaft moves in open direction - Check the shaft stroke.
Standard
10.3 mm (0.406 in.) or more.

- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR - ECM)
- Disconnect the fuel lid opener motor connector.
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A67-7 (FUO) - O41-1 Always Below 1 Ω A67-7 (FUO) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR - BATTERY)
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
- INSPECT FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH
- Remove the fuel lid opener switch. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 3 - 4 Fuel lid opener switch is pressed Below 1 Ω 3 - 4 Fuel lid opener switch is not pressed 10 kΩ or higher
NG → See step 14
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH - ECM)
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Disconnect the fuel lid opener switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A67-2 (FUEL) - D61-3 Always Below 1 Ω A67-2 (FUEL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH - BODY GROUND)
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

- GO TO SFI SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART). Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
- REPLACE FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL
- REPLACE FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH. Refer to REMOVAL
