"CLOSE FUEL LID" Remains Displayed at Multi-information Display: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL LID COURTESY SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      ENGINE AND ECT:

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Fuel Lid Fuel lid courtesy switch status: ON or OFF ON: Fuel lid is opened
      OFF: Fuel lid is closed
      -

      OK

      On the Techstream screen, the item changes between ON and OFF according to the chart above.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - COMBINATION METER) 
    1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    2. Disconnect the combination meter connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A67-19 (LST1) - E1-12 (FUWI) Always Below 1 Ω
      A67-20 (LST2) - E1-13 (FUCI) Always Below 1 Ω
      A67-19 (LST1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A67-20 (LST2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A67-19 (LST1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      A67-20 (LST2) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the ignition switch ON with the ECM connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK METER / GAUGE SYSTEM (MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY) 
    1. Check the multi-information display when the fuel lid is closed.

      OK

      "CLOSE FUEL LID" is not displayed on the multi-information display.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK → END (ECM IS DEFECTIVE) 

  4. INSPECT FUEL LID COURTESY SWITCH 
    1. Remove the fuel lid courtesy switch. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Courtesy switch free (fuel lid open) 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 2 Courtesy switch pushed (fuel lid closed) Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL LID COURTESY SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the fuel lid courtesy switch connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A67-17 (LIDO) - O48-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      A67-17 (LIDO) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL LID COURTESY SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O48-2 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   7 

  7. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. REPLACE FUEL LID COURTESY SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL
