DTC P0976: Shift Solenoid "B" Control Circuit Low (Shift Solenoid Valve S2); DTC P0977: Shift Solenoid "B" Control Circuit High (Shift Solenoid Valve S2): Procedure

  1. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE (S2) 
    1. Disconnect the transmission wire connector from the transaxle.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      10 - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 11 to 15 Ω

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - ECM) 
    1. Connect the transmission wire connector to the transaxle.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B29-55 (S2) - Body ground 20°C (68°F) 11 to 15 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   3 

  3. REPLACE ECM (for 2ZR-FE). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  4. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE S2 
    1. Remove the shift solenoid valve S2.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Solenoid Connector (S2) - Solenoid Body (S2) 20°C (68°F) 11 to 15 Ω
    3. Connect the positive (+) lead to the terminal of the solenoid connector, and the negative (-) lead to the solenoid body.

      OK

      The solenoid makes an operating sound.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE S2. Refer to  DISASSEMBLY
