Hazard Warning Switch Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
    5. Read the display on the Techstream.
      COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Hazard Flasher Switch Hazard switch signal/ON or OFF ON: Hazard switch on
      OFF: Hazard switch off
      -

      OK

      Normal conditions listed above are displayed.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   5 

  2. INSPECT AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY (HAZARD SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the air conditioning control assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      4 (HAZ) - 6 (GND) Hazard switch on Below 1 Ω
      4 (HAZ) - 6 (GND) Hazard switch off 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Air Conditioning Control Assembly (Hazard Switch))

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I17 combination meter assembly connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I56-4 (HAZ) - I17-5 (HAZ) Always Below 1 Ω
      I56-4 (HAZ) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      I56-6 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   4 

  4. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL  .
  5. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  .
  6. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL  .
