Hazard Warning Switch Circuit: Procedure
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.
- Read the display on the Techstream.COMBINATION METER
Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Hazard Flasher Switch Hazard switch signal/ON or OFF ON: Hazard switch on
OFF: Hazard switch off- OK

- INSPECT AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY (HAZARD SWITCH)
- Remove the air conditioning control assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 4 (HAZ) - 6 (GND) Hazard switch on Below 1 Ω 4 (HAZ) - 6 (GND) Hazard switch off 10 kΩ or higher TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Component without harness connected
(Air Conditioning Control Assembly (Hazard Switch))

OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY)
- Disconnect the I17 combination meter assembly connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition I56-4 (HAZ) - I17-5 (HAZ) Always Below 1 Ω I56-4 (HAZ) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher I56-6 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK → See step 4
- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL .
- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .
- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY. Refer to REMOVAL .
