Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Warning Light Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTCs 
    1. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No output DTC A
      Output DTC (CAN communication) B
      Output DTC (Occupant classification) C

    B → See step   5 

    C → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Operate the Techstream according to the steps on the display and select "Active Test".
      COMBINATION METER

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Front passenger side seat belt warning light Front passenger side seat belt warning light is OFF/ON Confirm that the vehicle is stopped with the engine idling

      OK

      Switch condition (ON/OFF) can be switched by "Active Test"

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → See step   7 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY POSITIVE AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the E60 connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E60-4 (B) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR, OR REPLACE FUSE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the E55 connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E55-1 (WRNP) - E60-3 (L) Always Below 1 Ω
      E55-1 (WRNP) or E60-3 (L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   8 

  5. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM 
  6. GO TO OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  7. REPLACE COMBINATION METER. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. REPLACE TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
