Meter Illumination is Always Dark: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if CAN communication DTC is output.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      CAN communication system DTC is not output. A
      CAN communication system DTC is output. (w/ Smart Key System) B
      CAN communication system DTC is output. (w/o Smart Key System) C

    B → See step   5 

    C → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DTC 
    1. Check if DTC B1244 is output, refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      B1244 is not output. A
      B1244 is output. B

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (DIMMER SIGNAL) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Turn the light control switch to the TAIL or HEAD position.
    5. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.
    6. Check the meter illumination.
      MAIN BODY:

      Tester Display Test Part Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Dimmer signal Dimmer signal Dimmer signal is OFF/ON -

      OK

      Meter illumination does not dim when turn the light control switch to the TAIL or HEAD position and dimmer signal is ON in daytime.

      HINT: 

      Meter illumination is adjusted by automatic light control system and controlled according to the outside light. The automatic light control sensor sensitiveness can be customized. Therefore, when the Data List value is normal, confirm the sensitivity setting in the customization table of the automatic light control system.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   7 

  4. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the combination meter assembly with a new or normally functioning one, refer to REMOVAL .

      OK

      The operation of the combination meter assembly returns to normal.

    NG → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU 

    OK → END (COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE) 

  5. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  6. GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM. Refer to  DTC B1244: Light Sensor Circuit Malfunction 
  7. CHECK LIGHTING SETTING. Refer to  CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS 
  8. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
