Hybrid System Indicator Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check for the DTC.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      No CAN Communication DTC is output and EV drive mode indicator light has a malfunction. A
      No CAN Communication DTC is output and ECON indicator light or variable economy zone display has a malfunction. B
      CAN Communication DTC is output (w/ Smart Key System). C
      CAN Communication DTC is output (w/o Smart Key System). D

    A: Go to next step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (EV DRIVE MODE INDICATOR LIGHT) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
    5. Check the indicator light operation according to the values in the table below.
      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Indicat. EV Mode EV Mode indicator light EV Mode indicator light is OFF/ON Confirm that the vehicle is stopped, engine idling

      OK

      Indicator light operation is normal.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → See step   4 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (ECON INDICATOR LIGHT, VARIABLE ECONOMY ZONE DISPLAY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.
    5. Check the indicator light operation according to the values in the table below.
      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      Indicat. ECO Variable economy zone display Variable economy zone display is OFF/ON Confirm that the vehicle is stopped, engine idling
      Indicat. ECONO ECON indicator light ECON indicator light is OFF/ON Confirm that the vehicle is stopped, engine idling

      OK

      Indicator light operation is normal.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → See step   6 

  4. GO TO HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  EV Drive Mode Switch Circuit 
  5. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  Combination Meter ECU Communication Stop Mode 
  6. GO TO HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  Pattern Select Switch Circuit 
  7. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  Combination Meter ECU Communication Stop Mode
