Fuel Receiver Gauge Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
    1. Check if a CAN communication DTC is output.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
CAN communication DTC is not output A
CAN communication DTC is output (w/ Smart Key System) B
CAN communication DTC is output (w/o Smart Key System) C

    B → See step   8

    C → See step   13

    A: Go to next step

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL METER OPERATION)
    1. Use the Active Test to check the operation of the fuel receiver gauge, refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .
      COMBINATION METER

Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
Fuel Meter Operation Fuel receiver gauge Empty, 1/2, Full Confirm that the vehicle is stopped, engine idling.

      OK

Fuel receiver gauge indication is normal.

    NG → See step   9

    OK: Go to next step

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL INPUT)
    1. Use the Data List to check if the fuel receiver gauge is operating properly, refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .
      COMBINATION METER

Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Fuel Input Fuel input signal/Min.: 0, Max.: 127.5 Fuel gauge indicates (E): 6.8 (L)
      Fuel gauge indicates (1/2): 32.4 (L)
      Fuel gauge indicates (F): 58.3 (L)
      -

      OK

Fuel level signal displayed on the Techstream is almost the same as the fuel receiver gauge indication.

    NG → See step   10

    OK: Go to next step

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (COMBINATION METER - FUEL SUCTION PLATE SUB-ASSEMBLY)
    1. Disconnect the E1 meter connector.
