TRAC OFF Indicator Light Remains ON: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM See step   1 

    B → See step   9 

    C → See step   12 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED 
    1. Check if the skid control ECU connector is securely connected.

      OK

      The connector is securely connected.

    NG → CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU CORRECTLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK AUXILIARY BATTERY 
    1. Check the auxiliary battery voltage.

      Standard Voltage

      11 to 14 V

    NG → CHARGE OR REPLACE AUXILIARY BATTERY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VSC OFF SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Select the Data List on the Techstream, refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .
      ABS/VSC/TRAC

      TRC(TRAC)/VSC OFF SW VSC OFF switch / ON or OFF ON: Switch on
      OFF: Switch off
      -
      TRAC/VSC Off Mode VSC OFF switch / Normal, TRC OFF, Unknown or VSC OFF Normal: Normal mode
      TRC OFF: TRAC off mode
      VSC OFF: VSC off mode
      -
    4. Using the Techstream, check that the switch input and mode condition displayed on the Techstream change according to VSC OFF switch operation.

      Result

      OK A
      NG (Switch input and mode condition display do not change.) B
      NG (Switch input is normal, but mode condition display does not change.) C

    B → See step   6 

    C → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Perform the Active Test of the combination meter (meter CPU) using the Techstream, refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .
    3. Check the combination meter.

      OK

      The TRAC OFF indicator light turns on and off in accordance with the Techstream operation.

      HINT: 

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next suspected area before replacing the part, refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → See step   8 

  6. INSPECT VSC OFF SWITCH 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the VSC OFF switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      9 (+) - 6 (E) Switch is pushed in Below 1 Ω
      9 (+) - 6 (E) Switch is not pushed in 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - VSC OFF SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the A44 skid control ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A44-19 (CSW) - D75-9 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A44-19 (CSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D75-6 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      (to Skid Control ECU)
      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to VSC OFF Switch)

      HINT: 

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next suspected area, refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   8 

  8. REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING). Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  10. REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  11. REPLACE VSC OFF SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  12. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING). Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
