DTC C1319/35: SCSS Changeover Solenoid Malfunction: Procedure

  1. INSPECT BRAKE STROKE SIMULATOR CYLINDER 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.

    2. Disconnect the brake stroke simulator cylinder connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (BSR) - 2 (SCSS) Always 21.45 to 23.15 Ω
      1 (BSR) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component without harness connected
      (Brake Stroke Simulator Cylinder)

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BRAKE STROKE SIMULATOR CYLINDER) 
    1. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector.

    2. Disconnect the A46 skid control ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A46-5 (SS) - A51-2 (SCSS) Always Below 1 Ω
      A46-5 (SS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      A46-2 (BS03) - A51-1 (BSR) Always Below 1 Ω
      A46-2 (BS03) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Skid Control ECU)
      *2 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Brake Stroke Simulator Cylinder)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (SOLENOID OUTPUT) 
    1. Reconnect the skid control ECU connector and the brake stroke simulator cylinder connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A46-5 (SS) - Body ground Brake pedal depressed approximately 1.5 seconds after ignition switch turned to ON Below 1.5 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component with harness connected
      (Skid Control ECU)

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Clear the DTCs, refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY).
    4. Check if the same DTC is recorded, refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC (C1319/35) is not output A
      DTC (C1319/35) is output B

    B → See step   7 

    A → See step   5 

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  6. REPLACE BRAKE STROKE SIMULATOR CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  7. REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
