DTC C1311/11: Open in Main Relay 1 Circuit; DTC C1312/12: Short in Main Relay 1 Circuit; DTC C1313/13: Open in Main Relay 2 Circuit; DTC C1314/14: Short in Main Relay 2 Circuit: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (MAIN RELAY) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Select the Active Test on the Techstream, refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .
      ABS/VSC/TRAC

      ECB* Main Relay2 Main relay 2 Relay ON/OFF -

      *: Electronically Controlled Brake System

    4. Select the Data List on the Techstream, refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .
      ABS/VSC/TRAC

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      ECB* Main Relay Main relay 1 / ON or OFF ON: Main relay ON
      OFF: Main relay OFF
      -
      ECB* Main Relay2 Main relay 2 / ON or OFF ON: Main relay ON
      OFF: Main relay OFF

      *: Electronically Controlled Brake System

    5. Check the operating condition of the main relay when operating it using the Techstream.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Main relay Data List item turns ON/OFF using the Active Test A
      Main relay Data List item does not change using the Active Test B

    B → See step   4 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (BS TERMINAL) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A46-3 (BS01) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 8.8 to 14 V
      A45-7 (BS02) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 8.8 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component with harness connected
      (Skid Control ECU)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BS CIRCUIT) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. RECONFIRM DTC 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Clear the DTCs, refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    4. Check if the same DTC is recorded, refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTCs (C1311/11, C1312/12, C1313/13 and C1314/14) are not output A
      DTCs (C1311/11, C1312/12, C1313/13 and/or C1314/14) are output B

    B → See step   8 

    A → See step   7 

  4. INSPECT ABS MAIN FUSES 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Remove the ABS MAIN NO. 1 and ABS MAIN NO. 2 fuses from the engine room No. 3 relay block.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      ABS MAIN NO. 1 (10 A) fuse Always Below 1 Ω
      ABS MAIN NO. 2 (10 A) fuse Always Below 1 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Engine Room No. 3 Relay Block
      *2 ABS MAIN NO. 1 Fuse
      *3 ABS MAIN NO. 2 Fuse

    NG → REPLACE ABS MAIN FUSES 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (+BI TERMINAL) 
    1. Install the ABS MAIN NO. 1 and ABS MAIN NO. 2 fuses.

    2. Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connectors.
    3. Disconnect the A44 and A45 skid control ECU connectors.
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A44-4 (+BI1) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      A45-5 (+BI2) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Skid Control ECU)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (+BI CIRCUIT) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU (BS TERMINAL) 
    1. Reconnect the skid control ECU connectors.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A46-3 (BS01) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 8.8 to 14 V
      A45-7 (BS02) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 8.8 to 14 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *1 Component with harness connected
      (Skid Control ECU)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BS CIRCUIT) 

    OK → See step   8 

  7. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  8. REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
