Touch Sensor Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR) 
    1. Check the Data List for proper functioning of the power back door touch sensor.
      BACK DOOR (POWER BACK DOOR ECU)

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      PBD Touch Sen L Power back door touch sensor LH signal / ON or OFF ON: Power back door touch sensor LH is pressed
      OFF: Power back door touch sensor LH is not pressed
      -
      PBD Touch Sen R Power back door touch sensor RH signal / ON or OFF ON: Power back door touch sensor RH is pressed
      OFF: Power back door touch sensor RH is not pressed
      -

      OK

      The display is as specified in the normal condition.

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   5 

  2. INSPECT POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR 
    1. Remove the power back door touch sensor, refer to REMOVAL

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Not pressed Approx. 1 kΩ
      1 - 2 Pressed Below 100 Ω

    NG → See step   4 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR - BACK DOOR MOTOR UNIT AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. LH Side

      1. Disconnect the T7 sensor connectors.
      2. Disconnect the O15 ECU connector.
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T7-1 - O15-15 (OSL) Always Below 1 Ω
        T7-2 - O15-14 (OSE) Always Below 1 Ω
        T7-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
        T7-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    2. RH Side

      1. Disconnect the T8 sensor connectors.
      2. Disconnect the O15 ECU connector.
      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T8-1 - O15-13 (OSR) Always Below 1 Ω
        T8-2 - O15-14 (OSE) Always Below 1 Ω
        T8-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
        T8-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   5 

  4. REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  5. REPLACE BACK DOOR MOTOR UNIT (POWER BACK DOOR ECU). Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
