Automatic Light Control Sensor: Inspection: Inspection

  1. INSPECT AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (for Manual Air Conditioning System) 
    1. Disconnect the F2 automatic light control sensor connector.

    2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F2-3 (CLTB) - F2-6 (CLTE) Ignition switch off Below 1 V
      Ignition switch on (IG) 10 to 14 V

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      F2-6 (CLTE) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, there may be a malfunction on the wire harness side.

    3. Reconnect the automatic light control sensor connector.

    4. Connect an oscilloscope to the automatic light control sensor connector.
    5. Check the waveform.

      OK

      Tester Connection Tool Setting Condition Specified Condition
      F2-6 (CLTE) - F2-4 (CLTS) 5 V/DIV., 5 ms./DIV Ignition switch on (IG), light control switch in AUTO Correct waveform is as shown

      HINT: 

      If the ambient light becomes brighter, width A becomes narrower.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the automatic light control sensor.

  2. INSPECT AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (for Automatic Air Conditioning System) 
    1. Disconnect the F1 automatic light control sensor connector.

    2. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F1-6 (CLTB) - F1-3 (CLTE) Ignition switch off Below 1 V
      Ignition switch on (IG) 10 to 14 V

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      F1-3 (CLTE) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, there may be a malfunction on the wire harness side.

    3. Reconnect the automatic light control sensor connector.

    4. Connect an oscilloscope to the automatic light control sensor connector.
    5. Check the waveform.

      OK

      F1-3 (CLTE) - F1-5 (CLTS) 5 V/DIV., 5 ms./DIV Ignition switch on (IG), light control switch in AUTO Correct waveform is as shown

      HINT: 

      If the ambient light becomes brighter, width A becomes narrower.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the automatic light control sensor.
