DTC B2288: Steering Lock Signal Circuit Malfunction: Procedure

- CHECK FOR DTCS
- Delete the DTCs, refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
- After all DTCs are cleared, check if the trouble occurs again 18 to 22 seconds after the engine switch is turned on (IG).
- Check for DTCs again.

- CHECK STEERING LOCK
- Check if the steering lock is released when turning the engine switch on (ACC).
OK
The steering lock is released.
NG → See step 7
OK: Go to next step
- Check if the steering lock is released when turning the engine switch on (ACC).
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the steering lock function.
HINT:
When using Techstream with the engine switch off, turn on and off any of the door courtesy light switches repeatedly at 1.5 second intervals or less until communication between the tester and vehicle starts.

OK → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK)
- GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART (DTC B2285). Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
- GO TO DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART (DTC B2781, B2782, B2788). Refer to DTC B2781: Open / Short in Steering Lock ECU
- REPLACE STEERING LOCK ECU. Refer to REMOVAL
- GO TO STEERING LOCK SYSTEM. Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
