DTC P0351: Ignition Coil "A" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0352: Ignition Coil "B" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0353: Ignition Coil "C" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0354: Ignition Coil "D" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0355: Ignition Coil "E" Primary / Secondary Circuit; DTC P0356: Ignition Coil "F" Primary / Secondary Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY (POWER SOURCE) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector of malfunctioning cylinder.

    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 (+B) - Body ground Ignition switch on (IG) 9 to 14 V
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      4 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      (to Ignition Coil Assembly)
    5. Reconnect the ignition coil connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B30-2 (IGF) - B49-6 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B31-2 (IGF) - B49-6 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B32-2 (IGF) - B49-6 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B33-2 (IGF) - B49-6 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B34-2 (IGF) - B49-6 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B35-2 (IGF) - B49-6 (IGF1) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B30-2 (IGF) or B49-6 (IGF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B31-2 (IGF) or B49-6 (IGF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B32-2 (IGF) or B49-6 (IGF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B33-2 (IGF) or B49-6 (IGF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B34-2 (IGF) or B49-6 (IGF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B35-2 (IGF) or B49-6 (IGF1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the ECM connector.
    5. Reconnect the ignition coil connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY - ECM) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B30-3 (IGT1) - B49-24 (IGT1) Always Below 1 Ω
      B31-3 (IGT2) - B49-25 (IGT2) Always Below 1 Ω
      B32-3 (IGT3) - B49-26 (IGT3) Always Below 1 Ω
      B33-3 (IGT4) - B49-27 (IGT4) Always Below 1 Ω
      B34-3 (IGT5) - B49-28 (IGT5) Always Below 1 Ω
      B35-3 (IGT6) - B50-25 (IGT6) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B30-3 (IGT1) or B49-24 (IGT1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B31-3 (IGT2) or B49-25 (IGT2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B32-3 (IGT3) or B49-26 (IGT3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B33-3 (IGT4) or B49-27 (IGT4) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B34-3 (IGT5) or B49-28 (IGT5) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B35-3 (IGT6) or B50-25 (IGT6) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the ignition coil connector.
    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY - ECM) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0351, P0352, P0353, P0354, P0355 OR P0356) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the tester on.
    4. Clear the DTCs, refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    5. Shuffle arrangement of the ignition coils with igniters (among No. 1 to No. 6 cylinders).
      NOTE:

      Do not shuffle the connectors.

    6. Perform a simulation test.
    7. Check the DTCs displayed on the tester.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Same DTC output A
      Different ignition coil DTC output B

    A → See step   6 

  5. REPLACE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY (MALFUNCTIONING CYLINDER), refer to  COMPONENTS 
  6. REPLACE ECM, refer to  COMPONENTS
