DTC P2102: Throttle Actuator Control Motor Circuit Low; DTC P2103: Throttle Actuator Control Motor Circuit High: Procedure

  1. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY (RESISTANCE OF THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the throttle body connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B27-2 (M+) - B27-1 (M-) 20°C (68°F) 0.3 to 100 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Throttle Position Sensor)
    3. Reconnect the throttle body connector.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the throttle body connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Check for open 

      Check for short 

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B27-2 (M+) - B48-20 (M+) Always Below 1 Ω
      B27-1 (M-) - B49-29 (M-) Always Below 1 Ω
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B27-2 (M+) or B48-20 (M+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B27-1 (M-) or B49-29 (M-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the throttle body connector.
    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (THROTTLE CONTROL MOTOR - ECM) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY 
    1. Check for foreign objects between the throttle valve and the housing.

      OK

      Normal

    NG → REMOVE FOREIGN OBJECT AND CLEAN THROTTLE BODY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT THROTTLE VALVE 
    1. Check if the throttle valve opens and closes smoothly.

      OK

      The throttle valve opens and closes smoothly.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  6. REPLACE THROTTLE BODY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  7. REPLACE THROTTLE BODY. Refer to  COMPONENTS
