Front Seat Side Airbag Assembly: Removal: Removal

WARNING:
  • Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing, refer to PRECAUTION .
  • If the side airbag was deployed, replace the front seat airbag assembly, front seatback cover and front seat frame with adjuster assembly with the necessary parts in accordance with the extent of the collision damage.
  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected, refer to INITIALIZATION .

  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY 

    for Manual Seat:, refer to REMOVAL

    for Power Seat:, refer to REMOVAL

  3. SEPARATE AIRBAG WIRE HARNESS (for Manual Seat) 
    1. Disengage the 2 hooks.

    2. Disengage the claw and 4 clamps.

  4. SEPARATE AIRBAG WIRE HARNESS (for Power Seat) 
    1. Disengage the 2 hooks.

    2. Disengage the claw and 4 clamps.

  5. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD 
    1. w/ Seat Heater:
      1. Disconnect the connector.

      2. Disengage the 2 clamps.
    2. Remove the 3 hog rings.

    3. Open the 2 fasteners.

    4. Remove the 2 hog rings.

    5. Disengage the 2 hooks.

    6. Turn back the separate type front seatback cover.

    7. Remove the nut and disengage the hook to separate the separate type front seatback cover bracket.
    8. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 front seat headrest supports.

    9. Remove the front seatback cover with pad from the front seat frame assembly with adjuster.
  6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 2 clamps and separate the airbag wire harness.

    2. Remove the 2 nuts and front seat side airbag assembly.
      WARNING:
      • The nuts must not be reused.
      • Make sure that the seat frame assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one.
