Speaker Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the N15 and N16 stereo component amplifier assembly connectors.
    2. Disconnect the H5 and G5 front No. 1 speaker assembly connectors.
    3. Disconnect the F3 and f1 front No. 2 speaker assembly connectors.
    4. Disconnect the K1 and J1 rear speaker assembly connectors.
    5. Disconnect the T6 stereo component speaker assembly connector.
    6. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speaker assembly and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N15-2 (FL+) - H5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N15-1 (FL-) - H5-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      N15-9 (FR+) - G5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N15-3 (FR-) - G5-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    7. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assembly and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N16-8 (FL+) - F3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N16-7 (FL-) - F3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      N16-2 (FR+) - f1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N16-6 (FR-) - f1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    8. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assembly and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N16-3 (RL+) - K1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N16-9 (RL-) - K1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      N16-10 (RR+) - J1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N16-4 (RR-) - J1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    9. Measure the resistance between each of the stereo component speaker assembly and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N15-5 (WFL+) - T6-4 (WF+) Always Below 1 Ω
      N15-12 (WFL-) - T6-3 (WF-) Always Below 1 Ω
      N15-4 (WFR+) - T6-1 (WF+) Always Below 1 Ω
      N15-10 (WFR-) - T6-2 (WF-) Always Below 1 Ω
    10. Measure the resistance between each speaker and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N15-2 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N15-1 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N15-9 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N15-3 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-8 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-7 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-2 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-6 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-3 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-9 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-10 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-4 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N15-5 (WFL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N15-12 (WFL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N15-4 (WFR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N15-10 (WFR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the speaker.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        H5-1 - H5-2 Always 1.8 to 2.6 Ω
        G5-1 - G5-2 Always 1.8 to 2.6 Ω
        NOTE:

        The speaker should not be removed to check resistance.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the speaker.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        F3-1 - F3-2 Always 1.5 to 2.5 Ω
        f1-1 - f1-2 Always 1.5 to 2.5 Ω
        NOTE:

        The speaker should not be removed to check resistance.

    NG → See step   8 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the speaker.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        K1-1 - K1-2 Always 2.1 to 3.1 Ω
        J1-1 - J1-2 Always 2.1 to 3.1 Ω
        NOTE:

        The speaker should not be removed to check resistance.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the speaker.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T6-1 (WF+) - T6-2 (WF-) Always 1.6 to 2.4 Ω
        T6-3 (WF-) - T6-4 (WF+) Always 1.6 to 2.4 Ω
        NOTE:

        The speaker should not be removed to check resistance.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → See step   6 

  6. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  7. REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. REPLACE REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  10. REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
