Speaker Circuit: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 

    Result

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the stereo component amplifier assembly and speakers.
    2. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N15-9 (FR+) - G5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N15-3 (FR-) - G5-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      N15-2 (FL+) - H5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N15-1 (FL-) - H5-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N16-10 (RR+) - J1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N16-4 (RR-) - J1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      N16-3 (RL+) - K1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N16-9 (RL-) - K1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N16-2 (FR+) - f1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N16-6 (FR-) - f1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      N16-8 (FL+) - F3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      N16-7 (FL-) - F3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    5. Measure the resistance between the stereo component speaker assembly and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N15-5 (WFL+) - T6-4 (WF+) Always Below 1 Ω
      N15-12 (WFL-) - T6-3 (WF-) Always Below 1 Ω
      N15-4 (WFR+) - T6-1 (WF+) Always Below 1 Ω
      N15-10 (WFR-) - T6-2 (WF-) Always Below 1 Ω
    6. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N15-9 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N15-3 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N15-2 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N15-1 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-10 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-4 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-3 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-9 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-2 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-6 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      N16-8 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    7. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G5-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G5-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H5-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H5-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    8. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J1-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J1-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K1-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K1-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        G5-1 - G5-2 Always 1.8 to 2.6 Ω
        H5-1 - H5-2 Always 1.8 to 2.6 Ω

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        f1-1 - f1-2 Always 1.5 to 2.5 Ω
        F3-1 - F3-2 Always 1.5 to 2.5 Ω

  5. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        J1-1 - J1-2 Always 2.1 to 3.1 Ω
        K1-1 - K1-2 Always 2.1 to 3.1 Ω

  6. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        T6-1 (WF+) - T6-2 (WF-) Always 1.6 to 2.4 Ω
        T6-3 (WF-) - T6-4 (WF+) Always 1.6 to 2.4 Ω

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the connectors from the radio receiver assembly and speakers.
    2. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies and the radio receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E8-1 (FR+) - G5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E8-5 (FR-) - G5-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E8-2 (FL+) - H5-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E8-6 (FL-) - H5-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speaker assemblies and the radio receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E8-1 (FR+) - f2-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E8-5 (FR-) - f2-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      E8-2 (FL+) - F4-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E8-6 (FL-) - F4-4 Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and the radio receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E9-1 (RR+) - J1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E9-3 (RR-) - J1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      E9-2 (RL+) - K1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      E9-6 (RL-) - K1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    5. Measure the resistance between the radio receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E8-1 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E8-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E8-2 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E8-6 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E9-1 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E9-3 (RR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E9-2 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E9-6 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    6. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G5-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G5-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H5-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      H5-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    7. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speaker assemblies and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J1-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J1-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K1-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      K1-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Resistance check

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        G5-1 - G5-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω
        H5-1 - H5-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed, refer to REMOVAL .

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speaker assemblies that were disconnected.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → END (FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE) 

  10. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY

      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        J1-1 - J1-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω
        K1-1 - K1-2 Always 3.2 to 4.8 Ω

  11. REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  12. REPLACE REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  13. REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  14. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  15. REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
