Open in One Side of CAN Branch Line: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (SKID CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A44 skid control ECU assembly connector.
    2. Select "Bus Check" on the Techstream, refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      "ABS/VSC/TRAC" is not displayed on the Techstream A
      Several ECUs and sensors in addition to "ABS/VSC/TRAC" are displayed on the Techstream B

    B → See step   3 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (SKID CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY CAN BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal before measuring the resistance of the CAN main wire and CAN branch wire.

      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected, refer to INITIALIZATION .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A44-8 (CA1H) - A44-9 (CA1L) Ignition switch off 54 to 69 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Skid Control ECU Assembly)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY) 

    OK → See step   20 

  3. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR) 
    1. Disconnect the D14 steering angle sensor connector.
    2. Select "Bus Check" on the Techstream, refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      "Steering Angle Sensor" is not displayed on the Techstream A
      Several ECUs and sensors in addition to "Steering Angle Sensor" are displayed on the Techstream B

    B → See step   5 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR CAN BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal before measuring the resistance of the CAN main wire and CAN branch wire.

      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected, refer to INITIALIZATION .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D14-3 (CANH) - D14-2 (CANL) Ignition switch off 54 to 69 Ω
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Steering Angle Sensor)

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR) 

    OK → See step   21 

  5. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (YAW RATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the O6 yaw rate sensor assembly connector.
    2. Select "Bus Check" on the Techstream, refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      "Yaw Rate / Deceleration Sensor" is not displayed on the Techstream A
      Several ECUs and sensors in addition to "Yaw Rate / Deceleration Sensor" are displayed on the Techstream B

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (YAW RATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY CAN BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal before measuring the resistance of the CAN main wire and CAN branch wire.

      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected, refer to INITIALIZATION .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      O6-3 (CANH) - O6-2 (CANL) Ignition switch off 54 to 69 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR (YAW RATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY)

  7. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY) 
    NOTE:

    For vehicles without a navigation system, go to "Check for Open in One Side of CAN Branch Wire (Center Airbag Sensor Assembly)".

    1. Disconnect the E25 navigation receiver assembly connector.
    2. Select "Bus Check" on the Techstream, refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      "AVN1" is not displayed on the Techstream A
      Several ECUs and sensors in addition to "AVN1" are displayed on the Techstream B

    B → See step   9 

    A: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY CAN BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal before measuring the resistance of the CAN main wire and CAN branch wire.

      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected, refer to INITIALIZATION .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E25-2 (CANH) - E25-3 (CANL) Ignition switch off 54 to 69 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY)

  9. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D30 center airbag sensor assembly connector.
    2. Select "Bus Check" on the Techstream, refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      "SRS Airbag" is not displayed on the Techstream A
      Several ECUs and sensors in addition to "SRS Airbag" are displayed on the Techstream B

    B → See step   11 

    A: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CAN BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal before measuring the resistance of the CAN main wire and CAN branch wire.

      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected, refer to INITIALIZATION .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      D30-13 (CANH) - D30-22 (CANL) Ignition switch off 54 to 69 Ω

  11. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (MAIN BODY ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the D9 main body ECU (instrument panel junction block assembly) connector.
    2. Select "Bus Check" on the Techstream, refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      "Main Body" is not displayed on the Techstream A
      Several ECUs and sensors in addition to "Main Body" are displayed on the Techstream B

    B → See step   13 

    A: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (MAIN BODY ECU CAN BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal before measuring the resistance of the CAN main wire and CAN branch wire.

      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      NOTE:

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

    OK → REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 

  13. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the D37 air conditioning amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Select "Bus Check" on the Techstream, refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      "Air Conditioner" is not displayed on the Techstream A
      Several ECUs and sensors in addition to "Air Conditioner" are displayed on the Techstream B

    B → See step   15 

    A: Go to next step 

  14. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY CAN BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal before measuring the resistance of the CAN main wire and CAN branch wire.

      WARNING:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected, refer to INITIALIZATION .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  15. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the A67 ECM connector.
    2. Select "Bus Check" on the Techstream, refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      "Engine" is not displayed on the Techstream A
      Several ECUs and sensors in addition to "Engine" are displayed on the Techstream B

  16. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (ECM CAN BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal before measuring the resistance of the CAN main wire and CAN branch wire.

      WARNING:

    2. Select "Bus Check" on the Techstream, refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      "EPS" is not displayed on the Techstream A
      Several ECUs and sensors in addition to "EPS" are displayed on the Techstream B

  18. CHECK FOR OPEN IN ONE SIDE OF CAN BRANCH WIRE (POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY CAN BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal before measuring the resistance of the CAN main wire and CAN branch wire.

      WARNING:

    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal before measuring the resistance of the CAN main wire and CAN branch wire.

      WARNING:

  20. REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  21. REPLACE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  22. REPLACE YAW RATE SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  23. REPLACE NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  24. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  25. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  26. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  27. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
