DTC P0335: Crankshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit: Procedure
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE SPD)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / All Data / Engine Speed.
- Put the engine in inspection mode. Refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE .
- Read the values displayed on the Techstream while the engine is running.
Standard
Correct values are displayed.
HINT:
- To check the engine speed change, display the graph on the Techstream.
- If the engine does not start, check the engine speed while cranking.
- If the engine speed indicated on the Techstream remains zero (0), there may be an open or short in the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor circuit.
OK → See step 8
NG: Go to next step
- INSPECT CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (RESISTANCE)
- Disconnect the C20 CKP sensor connector.
- Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2.
Standard resistance
Tester Connections Conditions Specified Conditions 1 - 2 Cold 985 to 1,600 Ω 1 - 2 Hot 1,265 to 1,890 Ω HINT:
Terms "cold" and "hot" refer to the temperature of the sensor. "Cold" means approximately -10 to 50°C (14 to 122°F). "Hot" means approximately 50 to 100°C (122 to 212°F).
- Reconnect the CKP sensor connector.
NG → See step 9
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU)
- Disconnect the C20 CKP sensor connector.
- Disconnect the C64 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance (Check for open)
Tester Connections Condition Specified Conditions C20-1 - C64-69 (NE+) Always Below 1 Ω C20-2 - C64-68 (NE-) Always Below 1 Ω Standard resistance (Check for short)
Tester Connections Condition Specified Conditions C20-1 or C64-69 (NE+) - Body ground Always 10 k Ωor higher C20-2 or C64-68 (NE-) - Body ground Always 10 k Ωor higher - Reconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
- Reconnect the CKP sensor connector.
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (SENSOR INSTALLATION)
- Check the CKP sensor installation.

Sensor is installed correctly.
NG → SECURELY REINSTALL SENSOR
OK: Go to next step
- Check the CKP sensor installation.
- CHECK CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR PLATE (TEETH OF SENSOR PLATE)
- Check the teeth on the sensor plate.
OK
Sensor plate does not have any cracks or deformation.
NG → REPLACE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR PLATE
OK: Go to next step
- Check the teeth on the sensor plate.
- REPLACE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR
- Replace the crankshaft position sensor. Refer to REMOVAL .
NEXT: Go to next step
- CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
- Put the engine in inspection mode. Refer to INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE .
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Code.
- Read the DTCs.
Result
Display (DTC Output) Proceed to No output A P0335 B HINT:
If the engine does not start, replace the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
