DTC P0A1F-150: Battery Energy Control Module; DTC P0A1F-157: Battery Energy Control Module: Procedure

- CHECK AUXILIARY BATTERY
- Measure the voltage between the terminals of the auxiliary battery.
Standard voltage
11 to 14 V (Battery electrolyte temperature: 20°C (68°F))
NG → CHARGE OR REPLACE AUXILIARY BATTERY
OK: Go to next step
- Measure the voltage between the terminals of the auxiliary battery.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGCT VOLTAGE) WARNING:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
- Turn the power switch off and remove the service plug grip. Refer to PRECAUTION
.NOTE:
After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.
- Remove the luggage compartment trim cover front. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Disconnect the frame wire. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Remove the battery bracket sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Connect the auxiliary battery positive terminal cable of the frame wire.
- Disconnect the n2 battery smart unit connector.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage
Tester Connection Specified Condition IGC1 (n2-1) - GND (n2-5) 8.6 V or more
OK → See step 5
NG: Go to next step
- Turn the power switch off and remove the service plug grip. Refer to PRECAUTION
.
- CHECK FUSE (IGCT NO. 2)
- Remove the IGCT No. 2 fuse from the engine room R/B.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
Tester Connection Specified Condition IGCT No. 2 fuse terminal Below 1 Ω
NG → REPLACE FUSE
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY SMART UNIT - ENGINE ROOM R/B) WARNING:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.
- Install the IGCT No. 2 fuse to the engine room R/B.
- Remove the IGCT relay from the engine room R/B.
- Disconnect connector n2 from the battery smart unit.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance
Tester Connection Specified Condition IGC1 (n2-1) - Engine room R/B IGCT Relay terminal 5 Below 1 Ω
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK → CHECK AND REPAIR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
- REPLACE BATTERY SMART UNIT. Refer to REMOVAL
