DTC P0A1F-150: Battery Energy Control Module; DTC P0A1F-157: Battery Energy Control Module: Procedure

  1. CHECK AUXILIARY BATTERY 
    1. Measure the voltage between the terminals of the auxiliary battery.

      Standard voltage

      11 to 14 V (Battery electrolyte temperature: 20°C (68°F))

    NG → CHARGE OR REPLACE AUXILIARY BATTERY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGCT VOLTAGE) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Turn the power switch off and remove the service plug grip. Refer to PRECAUTION .
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the luggage compartment trim cover front. Refer to REMOVAL .
    3. Disconnect the frame wire. Refer to REMOVAL .
    4. Remove the battery bracket sub-assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .
    5. Connect the auxiliary battery positive terminal cable of the frame wire.
    6. Disconnect the n2 battery smart unit connector.
    7. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    8. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      IGC1 (n2-1) - GND (n2-5) 8.6 V or more

    OK → See step   5 

    NG: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK FUSE (IGCT NO. 2) 
    1. Remove the IGCT No. 2 fuse from the engine room R/B.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      IGCT No. 2 fuse terminal Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPLACE FUSE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY SMART UNIT - ENGINE ROOM R/B) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Install the IGCT No. 2 fuse to the engine room R/B.
    2. Remove the IGCT relay from the engine room R/B.
    3. Disconnect connector n2 from the battery smart unit.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      IGC1 (n2-1) - Engine room R/B IGCT Relay terminal 5 Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → CHECK AND REPAIR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT 

  5. REPLACE BATTERY SMART UNIT. Refer to  REMOVAL
