DTC P0705-757: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit; DTC P0705-758: Transmission Range Sensor Circuit; DTC P0851-775: Park / Neutral Switch Input Circuit Low: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (SHIFT POSITION) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. While slowly moving the shift lever from P to B, and then back to the P position, read the data list (Shift Position) displayed on the Techstream.

      HINT: 

      Make sure to move the shift lever slowly.

    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      DTCs P0705-757, P0705-758, and P0851-775 are not output.

    OK → See step   8 

    NG: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH) 
    1. Check connections of the park / neutral position switch connectors.

      OK

      The connectors are connected securely and there are no contract problems.

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the C62 park / neutral position switch connector.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      +B (C62-8) - Body ground 10 to 14 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the park / neutral position switch connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) See step   3 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the C64 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the C62 park / neutral position switch connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the power switch is on (IG).

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      +BS (C64-23) - Body ground Below 1 V
      P (C64-8) - Body ground Below 1 V
      R (C64-7) - Body ground Below 1 V
      N (C64-22) - Body ground Below 1 V
      D (C64-21) - Body ground Below 1 V
      B (C64-6) - Body ground Below 1 V
      MJ (C64-34) - Body ground Below 1 V
      FD (C64-35) - Body ground Below 1 V
      RV (C64-36) - Body ground Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the park / neutral position switch connector and hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      +BS (C64-23) - +B (C62-8) Below 1 Ω
      P (C64-8) - P (C62-3) Below 1 Ω
      R (C64-7) - R (C62-4) Below 1 Ω
      N (C64-22) - N (C62-2) Below 1 Ω
      D (C64-21) - D (C62-1) Below 1 Ω
      B (C64-6) - B (C62-7) Below 1 Ω
      MJ (C64-34) - MJ (C62-5) Below 1 Ω
      FD (C64-35) - FD (C62-6) Below 1 Ω
      RV (C64-36) - RV (C62-9) Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      +BS (C64-23) or +B (C62-8) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      P (C64-8) or P (C62-3) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      R (C64-7) or R (C62-4) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      N (C64-22) or N (C62-2) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      D (C64-21) or D (C62-1) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      B (C64-6) or B (C62-7) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      MJ (C64-34) or MJ (C62-5) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH 
    1. Connect the park / neutral position switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      HINT: 

      The resistance between terminals +BS and N should be 4.2 to 5.2 kΩ.

    NG → REPLACE PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH 

    OK → See step   9 

  8. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK → See step   9 

  9. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
