DTC P0516-769: Battery Temperature Sensor Circuit Low; DTC P0517-770: Battery Temperature Sensor Circuit High: Procedure

- CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (BATTERY TEMPERATURE SENSOR)
- Check the connections of the battery temperature sensor connector.
OK
The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.
NG → CONNECT SECURELY
OK: Go to next step
- Check the connections of the battery temperature sensor connector.
- INSPECT BATTERY (BATTERY THERMOMETER SENSOR)
- Disconnect the O24 battery thermometer sensor connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance
Tester Connection Temperature Specified Condition THB (O24-2) - E2 (O24-1) 0°C (32°F) 5.0 to 5.3 kΩ 20°C (68°F) 2.3 to 2.5 kΩ 40°C (104°F) 1.1 to 1.3 kΩ HINT:
The battery thermometer sensor is not available separately. If it requires replacement, replace the battery.
NG → REPLACE AUXILIARY BATTERY
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR) See step 3
NG → CONNECT SECURELY
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY THERMOMETER SENSOR)
- Disconnect the A61 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open)
Tester Connection Specified Condition THB (A61-83) - THB (O24-2) Below 1 Ω EIB (A61-84) - E2 (O24-1) Below 1 Ω Standard resistance (Check for short)
Tester Connection Specified Condition THB (A61-83) or THB (O24-2) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more EIB (A61-84) or E2 (O24-1) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more - Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage
Tester Connection Specified Condition THB (A61-83) or THB (O24-2) - Body ground Below 1 V NOTE:Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
- Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA
OK → See step 6
- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to REMOVAL
