DTC P3233-750: Open or Short to B+ in Blocking of HV Gate Connection: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HV CONTROL ECU - INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY)
    WARNING:

Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Turn the power switch off and remove the service plug grip. Refer to PRECAUTION .
      NOTE:

After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the repair information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the A61 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    3. Disconnect the A62 inverter with converter assembly connector.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      HSDN (A62-12) - Body ground Below 1 V
      NOTE:

Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      HSDN (A61-76) - +B1 (A61-2) 10 kΩ or more
      HSDN (A61-76) - +B2 (A61-1) 10 kΩ or more
      HSDN (A61-76) - BATT (A61-4) 10 kΩ or more

      HINT:

To check for a short to +B, the power switch is turned on (IG). However, the battery voltage is not applied to terminals +B1 and +B2 because the IGCT relay is not turned on with the A61 connector disconnected from the hybrid vehicle control ECU. Therefore, measure the resistance between terminals HSDN and +B1 and also between terminals HSDN and +B2.

    8. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      HSDN (A61-76) - HSDN (A62-12) Below 1 Ω

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: Go to next step

  2. CHECK INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Fig 2: Identifying A62 Inverter With Converter Assembly Connector Terminal Identification

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      HSDN (A62-12) - +B (A62-31) 10 kΩ or more
      HSDN (A62-12) - +B2 (A62-30) 10 kΩ or more
      HSDN (A62-12) - Body ground 2.65 to 3.55 kΩ

    NG → See step   4

    OK → See step   3

  3. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
  4. REPLACE INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
