DTC P3137-348: Collision Sensor Low Input; DTC P3138-349: Collision Sensor High Input: Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. INSPECT HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU (VOLTAGE CHECK)
    1. Disconnect the A63 circuit breaker sensor No. 1 connector.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      SIF+ (A63-2) - SIF- (A63-1) 4.5 to 5.5 V

    NG → See step   5

    OK: Go to next step

  2. INSPECT CIRCUIT BREAKER SENSOR NO. 1
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Disconnect the A63 circuit breaker sensor No. 1 connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Fig 2: Identifying A63 Circuit Breaker Sensor No. 1 Connector Terminal Identification (Component Side)

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      SIF- (A63-1) - SIF+ (A63-2) 0.65 to 1.0 kΩ
      at 20°C (68°F)
SIF- (A63-1) - Body ground 100 kΩ or more
      SIF+ (A63-2) - Body ground 100 kΩ or more

NG → REPLACE CIRCUIT BREAKER SENSOR NO. 1

    OK: Go to next step

  3. CLEAR DTC (HV)
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.

    NEXT: Go to next step

  4. RECONFIRM DTC OUTPUT (HV)
    1. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    2. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    3. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      P3137-348 and P3138-349 are output.

    NO → See step   7

    YES → See step   6

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - CIRCUIT BREAKER SENSOR NO. 1)
    1. Disconnect the A63 circuit breaker sensor No. 1 connector.

    2. Disconnect the A61 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      AS1 (A61-62) - Body ground Below 1 V
      AS1G (A61-61) - Body ground Below 1 V
      NOTE:

Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    5. Turn the power switch off.
    6. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      AS1 (A61-62) - SIF+ (A63-2) Below 1 Ω
      AS1G (A61-61) - SIF- (A63-1) Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      AS1 (A61-62) or SIF+ (A63-2) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more
      AS1G (A61-61) or SIF- (A63-1) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK → See step   6

  6. REPAIR HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL
  7. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
