DTC P3107-215: Airbag ECU Communication Circuit Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Airbag system DTCs are not output. A
      Airbag system DTCs are output.
      (for TMC Made)
      B
      Airbag system DTCs are output.
      (for TMMK Made)
      C

    B → See step   9 

    C → See step   10 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  3. RECONFIRM DTC OUTPUT 
    1. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    2. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      P3107-215 is output.

    YES → See step   5 

    NO: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    A → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

  5. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU See step   2 

    OK → See step   8 

    NG: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Connect the A61 hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    3. Disconnect the E30 center airbag sensor assembly.

    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      GSW2 (E30-14) - Body ground Below 1 V
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU and center airbag sensor assembly connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      ABFS (A61-73) - GSW2 (E30-14) Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      ABFS (A61-73) or GSW2 (E30-14) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more

      Result

      (for TMC Made)

      (for TMMK Made)

    A → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  7. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (for TMC Made). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. GO TO AIRBAG SYSTEM (for TMC Made). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  10. GO TO AIRBAG SYSTEM (for TMMK Made). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  11. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (for TMMK Made). Refer to  REMOVAL
