DTC P3107-214: Airbag ECU Communication Circuit Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY See step   2 

    NG → See step   5 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      DTC P3107-214 is output.

    YES → See step   7 

    NO: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS

    YES → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    NO → See step   7 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Disconnect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.

    3. Disconnect the E30 center airbag sensor assembly connector.
    4. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      GSW2 (E30-14) - Body ground Below 1 V
    6. Turn the power switch off.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      ABFS (A61-73) - GSW2 (E30-14) Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      ABFS (A61-73) or GSW2 (E30-14) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU 
    1. Turn the power switch off.
    2. Connect the hybrid vehicle control ECU connector.
    3. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      GSW2 (E30-14) - Body ground 10 to 14 V

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      NG A
      OK
      (for TMC Made)
      B
      OK
      (for TMMK Made)
      C
      NOTE:

      Turning the power switch on (IG) with the center airbag sensor assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

  7. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (for TMC Made). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (for TMMK Made). Refer to  REMOVAL
