DTC P3107-213: Airbag ECU Communication Circuit Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Airbag system DTCs are not output. A
      Airbag system DTCs are output.
      (for TMC Made)
      B
      Airbag system DTCs are output.
      (for TMMK Made)
      C

    B → See step   10 

    C → See step   11 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect an oscilloscope between the center airbag sensor assembly terminals specified in the table below, and measure the waveform.

      Item Contents
      Terminal GSW2 (E30-14) - E1 (E30-25)
      Equipment Setting 5 V/DIV., 500 ms./DIV.
      Condition Power switch on (READY)

      OK

      The waveform appears as shown in the illustration.

    NG → See step   6 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CLEAR DTC 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
    4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    5. Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      DTC P3107-213 is output.

    YES → See step   8 

    NO: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
    1. Check for intermittent problems. Refer to CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS .

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA 

    OK → See step   8 

  6. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Turn the power switch off.

    2. Disconnect the E30 center airbag sensor assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      GSW2 (E30-14) - E1 (E30-25) 10 kΩ or more

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK A
      NG
      (for TMC Made)
      B
      NG
      (for TMMK Made)
      C

    B → See step   9 

    C → See step   12 

    A: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the A61 hybrid vehicle control ECU.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      GSW2 (E30-14) or E1 (E30-25) - Body ground 10 kΩ or more

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   8 

  8. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (for TMC Made). Refer to  REMOVAL 
  10. GO TO DTC CHART (for TMC Made). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  11. GO TO DTC CHART (for TMMK Made). Refer to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART 
  12. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (for TMMK Made). Refer to  REMOVAL
