DTC P0A90-251: Drive Motor "A" Performance: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      P0A51-174 MG ECU circuit malfunction
      P0A60 (all INF codes) *1, P0A63 (all INF codes) *1 Motor current sensor circuit
      P0A72 (all INF codes) *1, P0A75 (all INF codes) *1 Generator current sensor circuit
      P0A78-306, 510, 586, 266, 267, 523 Motor inverter malfunction
      P0A7A-344, 522 Generator inverter malfunction
      P0A90-509 Motor system malfunction
      P0A92-521 Generator system malfunction
      P0A94-585, 587, 589, 590 Boost converter circuit
      P0AA6 (all INF codes) *1 Hybrid Battery Voltage System Isolation Fault
      P3004-132 Power Cable Malfunction
      P3233-750 HV gate shutdown wiring malfunction

      HINT: 

      • *1: If any INF codes are output for this DTC, refer to the corresponding diagnostic flowchart above.
      • Turning the power switch on (IG) with the service plug grip and inverter cover removed causes interlock switch system DTC P0A0D-350 to be output.
      • P0A90-251 may be output due to a malfunction which causes the DTCs in the table above to be output. In this case, first troubleshoot the output DTCs in the table above. Then, perform a reproduction test to check that no DTCs are output.

    YES → GO TO  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  DTC CHART 

    NO: Go to next step 

  2. SIMULATION TEST 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Test-drive the vehicle at a speed of 40 km/h (24.9 mph) for approximately 1 minute.
    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result

      DTC output Proceed to
      P0A78-306 or P0A90-509 is output A
      P0A90-251 is output or no DTC is output B

    A → GO TO  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  DTC CHART 

    B: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY CONNECTOR). Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 4 

    NG → CONNECT SECURELY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK INVERTER WITH CONVERTER ASSEMBLY (MOTOR CABLE CONNECTION CONDITION). Refer to  PROCEDURE - Step 4 

    NG → TIGHTEN TO SPECIFIED TORQUE 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
