WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 Toyota Camry. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- INSPECT TRANSMISSION REVOLUTION SENSOR (SPEED SENSOR INSTALLATION)
- Remove the valve body assembly.
- Make sure that the connector is properly connected, and check the speed sensor installation. Refer to INSTALLATION
.
OK
The installation bolts are tightened properly and there is no clearance between the sensor and transaxle case.
NG → See step 8
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE
- Disconnect the speed sensor connector from the transmission wire.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 (NCO) sensor side - A-3 (NCO) wiring harness connector side Always Below 1 Ω 4 (NCB) sensor side - A-4 (NCB) wiring harness connector side Always Below 1 Ω 3 (NCO) sensor side - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher 4 (NCB) sensor side - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Component without harness connected
(Transmission Wire)*b Wiring Harness Connector Side *c Sensor Side
NG → See step 9
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR)
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition E26-118 (NCB) - E8-4 (NCB) Always Below 1 Ω E26-117 (NCO) - E8-3 (NCO) Always Below 1 Ω E26-118 (NCB) or E8-4 (NCB)- Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher E26-117 (NCO) or E8-3 (NCO) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR
- Remove the wiring harness connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

- CHECK IF DTC OUTPUT RECURS (SEE IF DTC P0791 AND/OR P0793 IS OUTPUT AGAIN)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Start the engine and turn the Techstream on.
- Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR
.
HINT:
Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.
- Perform the monitor drive pattern. Refer to MONITOR DRIVE PATTERN .
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
- Read the DTCs using the Techstream.
Result
Display (DTC Output) Proceed to Only "P0791 or P0793" is output A No output B
B → END
A → See step 7
- REPLACE ECM. Refer to COMPONENTS
