DTC P0617: Starter Relay Circuit High: Procedure

- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STARTER SIGNAL)
- Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the tester on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List.
- Check the value displayed on the tester when the ignition switch is turned on (IG) and the engine is started.
OK
Engine Switch Condition ON (IG) ENGINE START Starter Signal OFF ON
OK → See step 8
NG: Go to next step
- INSPECT PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY
- Inspect the Park / Neutral Position (PNP) switch.
- Disconnect the C1 switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
Gear Selector Lever Position Tester Connection Specified Condition P 4 - 9 Below 1 Ω N 4 - 9 Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the PNP switch connector.

- Inspect the Park / Neutral Position (PNP) switch.
- INSPECT IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the E23 ignition switch connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance
Switch Condition Tester Connection Specified Condition LOCK 3-4, 5-7 10 kΩ or higher START 3-4, 5-7 Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the ignition switch connector.
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY
OK: Go to next step

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK → SYSTEM IS OK
- REPLACE TCM. Refer to REMOVAL
- REPLACE PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH (THEN CHECK CRANKING HOLDING FUNCTION CIRCUIT). Refer to REMOVAL
- CHECK CRANKING HOLDING FUNCTION CIRCUIT. Refer to Cranking Holding Function Circuit
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- Disconnect the C56 switch connector.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is P or N position.
Standard voltage
Tester Connection Shift Position Specified Condition STA (C56-10) - Body ground P or N Below 2 V - Connect the C56 switch connector.
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
