DTC P0500: Vehicle Speed Sensor "A": Procedure

  1. INSPECT SPEEDOMETER (METER OPERATION) 
    1. Drive the vehicle and check if operation of the speedometer in the combination meter is normal.

      HINT: 

      The vehicle speed sensor is operating normally if the speedometer display is normal.

    NG → CHECK SPEEDOMETER CIRCUIT 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT TCM 
    1. Shift the lever to the neutral position.

    2. Jack up the vehicle.
    3. Disconnect the TCM connector.
    4. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
    5. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below as the wheel is turned slowly.

      Standard

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      C56-3 (SPD1) - C56-8 (E1) Voltage is generated intermittently

      HINT: 

      The output voltage should fluctuate up and down similarly to the diagram when the wheel is turned slowly.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → REPLACE TCM
