DTC P0443: Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM 
    1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the VSV for EVAP.

    2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Start the engine and turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Active Test / Activate the VSV for Evap Control. Press the right or left button.
    5. Check if air is sucked into the port when operating the VSV for EVAP using the in TECHSTREAM.

      Standard

      Tester Operation Specified Condition
      VSV is OFF No air sucked

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      NG A
      OK B
    6. Reconnect the vacuum hose.

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT PURGE VSV 
    1. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.

    2. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the purge VSV.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 23 to 26 Ω
    3. Reconnect the purge VSV connector.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT PURGE VSV (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage between the terminal of the wire harness side connector and body ground.

      Standard voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C6-1 (Purge VSV) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    4. Reconnect the purge VSV connector.

    NG → CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PURGE VSV - ENGINE RELAY BLOCK) 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - PURGE VSV) 
    1. Disconnect the purge VSV connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance between the terminals.

      Standard resistance (Check for open)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C6-2 (Purge VSV) - C55-108 (PRG) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard resistance (Check for short)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C6-2 (Purge VSV) or C55-108 (PRG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the ECM connector.
    5. Reconnect the purge VSV connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (ECM - PURGE VSV) 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS 
  7. REPLACE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (PURGE VSV). Refer to  REMOVAL
