DTC P0778: Pressure Control Solenoid "B" Electrical (Shift Solenoid Valve SL2): Procedure

  1. INSPECT TRANSMISSION WIRE (SL2) 
    1. Remove the TCM from the transaxle.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      9 (SL2+) - 8 (SL2-) 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
      9 (SL2+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      8 (SL2-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      9 (SL2+) - All other terminals except 8 (SL2-) Always 10 kΩ or higher
      8 (SL2-) - All other terminals except 9 (SL2+) Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      OK B
      NG A

    B → See step   4 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2 
    1. Remove shift solenoid valve SL2.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 5.0 to 5.6 Ω
    3. Connect a battery positive (+) lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector. Then check that the valve moves and makes an operating sound.

      OK

      Valve moves and makes an operating sound.

    NG → See step   5 

    OK → See step   3 

  3. REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  4. REPLACE TCM. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  5. REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL2. Refer to  REMOVAL
