WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 Toyota Camry. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH)
- Disconnect the park/neutral position switch assembly connector.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E4-1 (RB) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Front view of wire harness connector
(to Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (OUTPUT SIGNAL)
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage

(Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly)
NG → See step 7
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - TCM)
- Connect the park/neutral position switch Assembly connector.
- Disconnect the TCM connectors.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG), and measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below when the shift lever is moved to each position.
Standard Voltage
Tester Connection Shift Lever Position Specified Condition E7-15 (R) - Body ground R 11 to 14 V* Except R Below 1 V E7-16 (D) - Body ground D, S, "+" or "-" 11 to 14 V Except D, S, "+" and "-" Below 1 V TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION*a Front view of wire harness connector
(to TCM)HINT:
*: The voltage will drop slightly due to lighting up of the back up light.
NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK → See step 6
