Terminals Of Ecu

  1. COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

    1. Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
      Terminal No. (Symbol) Wiring Color Terminal Description Condition Specified Condition
      E30-1 (B2) - Body ground V - Body ground Battery Always 11 to 14 V
      E30-2 (B) - Body ground P - Body ground Turn RH indicator light signal Ignition switch on (IG), turn RH indicator light off 11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch on (IG), turn RH indicator light blinks Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V
      E30-3 (B) - Body ground B - Body ground Turn LH indicator light signal Ignition switch on (IG), turn LH indicator light off 11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch on (IG), turn LH indicator light blinks Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V
      E30-5 (+S) - Body ground SB - Body ground Speed signal (Output) Ignition switch on (IG), front wheel turns slowly Pulse generation (See waveform 1Fig 2)
      E30-7 (P/SB) - Body ground B - Body ground Front passenger side seat belt warning light signal Ignition switch on (IG), front passenger side seat belt warning light off 11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch on (IG), front passenger side seat belt warning light blinks Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V
      E30-9 (FR) - Body ground GR - Body ground Fuel level signal Ignition switch on (IG), fuel level warning light OFF Below 1 V
      Ignition switch on (IG), fuel level warning light ON 4 to 7 V
      E30-13 (MPX-) - Body ground P - Body ground Multiplex communication signal Ignition switch off Pulse generation
      E30-15 (LVWG) - Body ground G - Body ground Headlight leveling indicator light signal Ignition switch on (IG), headlight leveling indicator light off 11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch on (IG), headlight leveling indicator light blinks Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V
      E30-16 (SW) - Body ground LG - Body ground SRS warning light signal Ignition switch on (IG), SRS warning light off 11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch on (IG), SRS warning light on Below 1 V
      E30-17 (PBLT) - Body ground W - Body ground Front passenger side seat belt buckle switch signal Ignition switch on (IG), front passenger side seat belt warning light off (seat belt fastened) 11 to 14 V
      Ignition switch on (IG), front passenger side seat belt warning light blinks (seat belt unfastened) Below 1 V ←→ 11 to 14 V
      E30-19 (FE) - Body ground P - Body ground Ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E30-20 (ILL-) - Body ground R - Body ground Illumination signal Light control switch off 11 to 14 V
      Light control switch tail or head position Pulse generation (See waveform 2Fig 3)
      E30-21 (B) - Body ground L - Body ground Ignition switch signal Ignition switch off Below 1 V
      Ignition switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      E30-22 (IG+) - Body ground R - Body ground Ignition switch signal Ignition switch off Below 1 V
      Ignition switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      E30-25 (SI) - Body ground W - Body ground Speed signal (Input) Ignition switch on (IG), front wheel turns slowly Pulse generation (See waveform 1Fig 2)
      E30-29 (TIRE) - Body ground BE - Body ground Tire pressure warning light signal Ignition switch on (IG), tire pressure warning light off 3.2 V or higher
      Ignition switch on (IG), tire pressure warning light blinks Below 3.2 V
      E30-31 (S) - Body ground Y - Body ground Tachometer signal Ignition switch on (IG), engine idling Pulse generation (See waveform 3Fig 4)
      E30-33 (MPX+) - Body ground LG - Body ground Multiplex communication signal Ignition switch off Pulse generation
      E30-35 (MSW) - Body ground GR - Body ground Steering pad switch assembly signal Ignition switch on (IG), DISP switch not pressed 4 to 6 V
      Ignition switch on (IG), DISP switch pressed Below 1 V
      E30-36 (CHK) - Body ground R - Body ground MIL (Check engine warning light) signal Ignition switch on (IG), MIL (check engine warning light) off Below 2.5 V
      Ignition switch on (IG), MIL (check engine warning light) blinks 11 to 14 V
      E30-37 (B/LE) - Body ground V - Body ground Brake fluid level warning switch signal Ignition switch on (IG), brake fluid level warning light off Below 1 V
      Ignition switch on (IG), brake fluid level warning light on 11 to 14 V
      E30-39 (ES) - Body ground W-B - Body ground Ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E30-40 (E2) - Body ground B - Body ground Ground Always Below 1 Ω
    2. Waveform 1 (Reference): Using an oscilloscope:

      Tool setting 5 V/DIV., 20 ms./DIV.
      Vehicle condition Wheel being rotated

      HINT: 

      When the system is functioning normally, one wheel revolution generates 4 pulses. As the vehicle speed increases, the width indicated by (A) in the illustration narrows.

    3. Waveform 2 (Reference): Using an oscilloscope:
