Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Warning Light Malfunction (FROM 12/2010): Procedure

CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Check for DTCs.

B → GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A: Go to next step

CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Check for DTCs.

B → GO TO MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A: Go to next step

PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT)

Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
Ignition switch on (IG).
Turn the tester on.
Enter following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.

Check the operation by referring to the table below.

COMBINATION METER:

Tester Display	Test Part	Control Range	Diagnostic Note
Front Passenger Side Seat Belt	Front passenger side seat belt warning light	OFF or ON	Confirm that the vehicle is stopped, engine idling

Indicator light (OFF or ON) can be switched by ACTIVE TEST.

NG → REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY

OK: Go to next step

READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (PASSENGER BUCKLE SW)

Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
Ignition switch on (IG).
Turn the tester on.
Enter following menus: Body Electrical / SRS Airbag / Active Test.

Check the values by referring to the table below.

SRS AIRBAG:

Tester Display	Measurement Item/Range	Normal Condition	Diagnostic Note
Passenger Buckle SW	Front passenger side buckle switch	ON: Front passenger side seat belt is fastened OFF: Front passenger side seat belt is unfastened	Confirm that the vehicle is stopped, engine idling

Switch condition (OFF or ON) can be switched by actual operation.

NG → GO TO SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM AIRBAG SYSTEM

OK: Go to next step

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (A/C CONTROL ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER)

Disconnect the E30 and D59 connectors.

Measure the resistance to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
E30-7 (P/SB) - D59-14 (PBEW)	Always	Below 1 Ω
D59-14 (PBEW) - Body ground	Always	10 kΩ or higher

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK: Go to next step

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (A/C CONTROL ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT)

Disconnect the D59 connector.

Measure the voltage according the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
D59-16 (IG+) - Body ground	Ignition switch on (IG)	11 to 14 V

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
D59-1 (GND) - Body ground	Always	Below 1 Ω

NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK: Go to next step

INSPECT A/C CONTROL ASSEMBLY

Disconnect the A/C control assembly.

Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 16 (IG+), and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 1 (GND) and 14 (PBEW).

Measurement Condition	Specified Condition
Positive (+) lead → Terminal D59-16 (IG+) Negative (-) lead → Terminal D59-1 (GND) Negative (-) lead → Terminal D59-14 (PBEW)	Front passenger side seat belt warning light comes on

NG → REPLACE A/C CONTROL ASSEMBLY

OK → REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
