DTC B1625/22: Side Airbag Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction: Procedure

  1. CHECK CONNECTORS 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly, side airbag sensor LH and rear airbag sensor LH.

      OK

      The connectors are properly connected.

      HINT: 

      If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

    4. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly, side airbag sensor LH and rear airbag sensor LH.
    5. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.

      OK

      The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN) 
    1. Using SST, connect terminals 8 (BBL+) and 15 (BBL-) of connector B.

      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector.

      • SST: 09843-18040 
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L6-4 (BBL+) - L6-3 (BBL-) Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT) 
    1. Disconnect SST from connector B.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L6-4 (BBL+) - L6-3 (BBL-) Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO B+) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L6-4 (BBL+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      L6-3 (BBL-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO GROUND) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L6-4 (BBL+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      L6-3 (BBL-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN) 
    1. Using SST, connect terminals 2 (BCL+) and 1 (BCL-) of connector C.

      NOTE:

      Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector.

      • SST: 09843-18040 
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L6-1 (BCL+) - L6-2 (BCL-) Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT) 
    1. Disconnect SST from connector C.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L6-1 (BCL+) - L6-2 (BCL-) Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO B+) 
    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L6-1 (BCL+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
      L6-2 (BCL-) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT TO GROUND) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L6-1 (BCL+) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher
      L6-2 (BCL-) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

    NG → REPLACE FLOOR WIRE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH 
    1. Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor assembly and the rear airbag sensor LH.

    2. Interchange the side airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors.
    3. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    4. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    5. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory . Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    6. Turn the ignition switch off.
    7. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    8. Check for DTCs . Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC B1625/22 is output. A
      DTC B1620/21 is output. B
      DTC B1620/21 and B1625/22 are not output. C

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1620/21 and B1625/22 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    C → See step   12 

    B → See step   13 

    A: Go to next step 

  11. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    3. Return the side airbag sensors RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors.
    4. Disconnect the connector from the rear airbag sensor LH.
    5. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    7. Clear the DTCs stored in the memory . Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
    8. Turn the ignition switch off.
    9. Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
    10. Check for DTCs . Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .

      OK

      DTC B1625/22 is not output.

      HINT: 

      Codes other than DTC B1625/22 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

    NG → See step   15 

    OK → See step   14 

  12. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to  DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM 
  13. REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  14. REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  15. REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
