FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 2AZ-FE): Installation

  1. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING LH 
    1. Install a new front drive shaft hole snap ring LH to the front drive inboard joint assembly.

  2. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Align the inboard joint splines, and using a brass bar and a hammer, install the front drive shaft assembly LH.
      NOTE:
      • Face the end gap of the front drive inboard joint hole snap ring downward.
      • Do not damage the oil seal.
      • Do not damage the inboard joint boot.

      HINT:

      Confirm whether the drive shaft is securely driven in by checking the reaction force and sound.

  3. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH (for 2WD) 
    1. Install the front drive shaft assembly RH.
    2. Using a screwdriver, install a new bearing bracket hole snap ring.
      NOTE:
      • Do not damage the boot or oil seal.
      • Move the drive shaft assembly while keeping it level.
    3. Install a new bolt.

      Torque: 32 N*m (326 kgf*cm, 24 ft.*lbf)

  4. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH (for 4WD) 
    1. Install the front drive shaft assembly RH.
    2. Using a screwdriver, install a new bearing bracket hole snap ring.
      NOTE:
      • Do not damage the boot or oil seal.
      • Move the drive shaft assembly while keeping it level.
    3. Install a new bolt.

      Torque: 32 N*m (326 kgf*cm, 24 ft.*lbf)

  5. INSTALL MANUAL TRANSMISSION CASE PROTECTOR (for Manual Transaxle) 
    1. Install the manual transmission case protector with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 18 N*m (184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf) 

  6. INSTALL FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Push the front axle assembly LH out of the vehicle to align the spline of the drive shaft with the front axle assembly LH and insert the front axle assembly LH.

      NOTE:
      • Do not push out the front axle further than necessary.
      • Do not damage the outboard joint boot.
      • Check for any foreign matter on the speed sensor rotor and insertion part.
      • Do not damage the speed sensor rotor.
  7. INSTALL FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  8. CONNECT FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  9. CONNECT FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  10. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (for 2WD)  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (for 2WD) 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  12. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (for 4WD)  (See INSTALLATION )
  13. CONNECT TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (for 4WD) 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  14. CONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  15. CONNECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  16. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  17. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  18. INSTALL FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT LH 
    1. Clean the threaded parts on the drive shaft and front axle shaft nut using a non-residue solvent.
      NOTE:
      • Be sure to perform this work for a new drive shaft.
      • Keep the threaded parts free of oil and foreign matter.
    2. Using a socket wrench (30 mm), install a new axle shaft nut.

      Torque: 216 N*m (2203 kgf*cm, 159 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Using a chisel and a hammer, stake the axle shaft nut.
  19. INSTALL FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedure for the LH side.

  20. INSTALL FRONT WHEELS 

    Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)

  21. ADD MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL (for E351)  (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL )
  22. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (for U140F) 
  23. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (for U250E) 
  24. ADD TRANSFER OIL (for 4WD) 
  25. INSPECT MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL (for E351)  (See MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL )
  26. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (for U140F)  (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID )
  27. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID (for U250E)  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  28. INSPECT TRANSFER OIL (for 4WD)  (See TRANSFER OIL )
  29. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER LH 
  30. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER RH 
  31. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT 

    HINT:

  32. INSPECT SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 

    HINT:
