On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION) 
    1. Perform a diagnostic system check (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  ).
    2. With the passenger side knee airbag installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the passenger side knee airbag with a new one:

      Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the front passenger side knee airbag.

  2. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG HAS NOT DEPLOYED) 
    1. Perform a diagnostic system check (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  ).
    2. With the front passenger side knee airbag removed from the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the front passenger side knee airbag with a new one:
      • Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the front passenger side knee airbag.
      • Cracks or other damage to the connector.
      • Deformation or cracks on the instrument panel reinforcement.
      NOTE: For removal and installation procedures of the front passenger side knee airbag, be sure to follow the correct procedure.
