Inspection Procedure

NOTE:
Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (+BM VOLTAGE)
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Engine/Data List/All Data/+BM Voltage.
- Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
Standard voltage:
11 to 14 V
NG: Go to step 2
OK: CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS (See CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS )
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - ECM, ECM - BODY GROUND)
- Disconnect the ECM connectors.
- Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition D61-22 (+BM) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V - Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified Condition B48-20 (ME01) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω B49-6 (E1) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the ECM connectors.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: REPLACE ECM (See REMOVAL )
