VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE (for 1AR-FE): Inspection

  1. INSPECT NO. 1 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly for an open circuit.
      1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance 

        STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        1 - 2 at 20°C (68°F) 23 to 26 Ω
        1 - Body ground
        2 - Body ground
        - 10 MΩ or higher

        If the result is not as specified, replace the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly.

    2. Check the operation of the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly.
      1. Check that air does not flow from port E to port F as shown in the illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly.

      2. Apply battery positive voltage across the terminals.
      3. Check that air flows from port E to port F as shown in the illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly.
