Automatic Transaxle Assembly: Removal

  1. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE 

    HINT:

    See the steps from "Discharge Fuel System Pressure" through "Remove Engine Assembly with Transaxle" (See REMOVAL ).

  2. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER COVER 
    1. Remove the flywheel housing under cover.

  3. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT 
    1. Remove the 6 torque converter clutch setting bolts while holding the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.
    NOTE: One of the 6 bolts has a different color than the other ones.

  4. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY (except TMC Made) 
    1. Remove the 2 hose clamps and bolt, and disconnect the oil cooler.

  7. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL FILLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY (except TMC Made) 
    1. Remove the transmission oil level gauge sub-assembly.
    2. Remove the bolt and transmission oil filler tube sub-assembly.
    3. Remove the O-ring from the transmission oil filler tube sub-assembly.
  8. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY  (See DISASSEMBLY )

  9. SEPARATE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE SUPPORT 
    1. Separate the speed sensor connector and wire harness clamp.
    2. Remove the bolt and transmission control cable bracket from the automatic transaxle.

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE BRACKET 
    1. Separate the 2 connectors and wire harness clamp.
    2. Remove the 2 bolts and remove the No. 1 transmission control cable bracket from the automatic transaxle.

  11. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 7 bolts and automatic transaxle from the engine.

  12. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and engine mounting bracket LH from the automatic transaxle.

  13. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and front engine mounting bracket from the automatic transaxle.

  14. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and rear engine mounting bracket from the automatic transaxle.

  15. REMOVE OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for TMC Made) 
    1. Remove the 2 hose clamps, bolt and oil cooler tube sub-assembly.

  16. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL FILLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for TMC Made) 
    1. Remove the transmission oil level gauge sub-assembly.
    2. Remove the bolt and transmission oil filler tube sub-assembly.
    3. Remove the O-ring from the transmission oil filler tube sub-assembly.

  17. REMOVE SPEEDOMETER DRIVEN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt and speedometer driven hole cover sub-assembly.
  18. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the torque converter clutch from the automatic transaxle.
