Rear Brake Flexible Hose: Installation

NOTE:
  • Because the left and right rear flexible hoses are not interchangeable, verify the part number when installing the flexible hoses.
  • If the hoses are to be reused, connect them after checking the identification marks placed when each hose was disconnected.

  1. INSTALL REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE (for Drum Type) 
    1. Install the rear flexible hose with 2 new clips.
      NOTE: Install the clip as far as it will go.

    2. Using a union nut wrench (10 mm), connect the 2 brake lines to the rear flexible hose while holding the rear flexible hose with a wrench.

      Torque: without a union nut wrench 

      15 N*m (155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf) 

      with a union nut wrench 

      14 N*m (143 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf)

      NOTE:
      • Do not kink or damage the brake line.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt and dust to enter the brake line.
      • Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 250 mm (9.84 in.).
      • This torque value is effective when the union nut wrench is parallel to the torque wrench.
  2. INSTALL REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE (for Disc Type) 
    1. Install the rear flexible hose with a new clip.
      NOTE: Install the clip as far as it will go.

    2. Using a union nut wrench (10 mm), connect the brake line to the rear flexible hose while holding the rear flexible hose with a wrench.

      Torque: without a union nut wrench 

      15 N*m (155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf) 

      with a union nut wrench 

      14 N*m (143 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Do not kink or damage the brake line.
      • Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt and dust to enter the brake line.
      • Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 250 mm (9.84 in.).
      • This torque value is effective when the union nut wrench is parallel to the torque wrench.

    3. Install the rear flexible hose to the rear axle beam with the bolt.

      Torque: 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf)

    4. Install the rear flexible hose to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly with a new gasket and the union bolt.

      Torque: 29 N*m (296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf) 

  3. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID  (See REPLACEMENT )
  4. BLEED BRAKE LINE  (See REPLACEMENT )
  5. INSPECT FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAK 
  6. INSPECT FLUID LEVEL  (See BRAKE FLUID )
  7. INSTALL REAR WHEEL 

    Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
