Side Mudguard: Installation

HINT:

When installing the side mudguard, heat the vehicle body and side mudguard using a heat light.

Heating temperature 

ITEM TEMPERATURE TABLE

Item Temperature
Vehicle Body 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
Side Mudguard 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)
NOTE: Do not heat the vehicle body or side mudguard excessively.
  1. INSTALL REAR DOOR OUTSIDE MOLDING SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Clean the vehicle body surface.
      1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.
      2. Remove the upper rear door outside molding pad from the vehicle body.
      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
    2. Clean the rear door outside molding sub-assembly. (If reusing the rear door outside molding sub-assembly)
      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear door outside molding sub-assembly.
      2. Remove the upper rear door outside molding pad from the rear door outside molding sub-assembly.
      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
      4. Install a new upper rear door outside molding pad to the rear door outside molding sub-assembly.

    3. Install 2 new No. 3 clips on the rear door outside molding sub-assembly.
    4. Install 6 new No. 4 clips on the rear door outside molding sub-assembly.
    5. Install a new gasket on the rear door outside molding sub-assembly.
    6. Install the rear door outside molding sub-assembly.
      1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body and rear door outside molding sub-assembly.
      2. Remove the release paper from the rear door outside molding sub-assembly.

        HINT:

        After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      3. Engage the 8 clips and install the rear door outside molding sub-assembly.

    7. Install the nut.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)

    8. Install the rear door No. 2 weatherstrip.
  2. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE MOLDING SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Clean the vehicle body surface.
      1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.
      2. Remove the upper front door outside molding pad from the vehicle body.
      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
    2. Clean the front door outside molding sub-assembly. (If reusing the front door outside molding sub-assembly)
      1. Using a heat light, heat the front door outside molding sub-assembly.
      2. Remove the upper front door outside molding pad from the front door outside molding sub-assembly.
      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
      4. Install a new upper front door outside molding pad to the front door outside molding sub-assembly.

    3. Install 3 new No. 3 clips on the front door outside molding sub-assembly.
    4. Install 8 new No. 4 clips on the front door outside molding sub-assembly.
    5. Install a new gasket on the front door outside molding sub-assembly.
    6. Install the front door outside molding sub-assembly.
      1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body and front door outside molding sub-assembly.
      2. Remove the release paper from the front door outside molding sub-assembly.

        HINT:

        After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      3. Engage the 11 clips and install the front door outside molding sub-assembly.

    7. Install the nut.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)

    8. Install the front door weatherstrip.
  3. INSTALL FRONT FENDER OUTSIDE MOLDING PAD 
    1. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
    2. Remove the release paper from the front fender outside molding pad.
    3. Install a new front fender outside molding pad to the front fender molding sub-assembly.

  4. INSTALL FRONT FENDER MOLDING SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Clean the vehicle body surface.
      1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.
      2. Remove the front fender side protector from the vehicle body.
      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
    2. Clean the front fender molding sub-assembly. (If reusing the front fender molding sub-assembly)
      1. Using a heat light, heat the front fender molding sub-assembly.
      2. Remove the front fender side protector from the front fender molding sub-assembly.
      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
      4. Install a new front fender side protector to the front fender molding sub-assembly.

    3. Install 2 new No. 4 clips on the front fender molding sub-assembly.
    4. Install a new pad on the front fender molding sub-assembly.
    5. Install the front fender molding sub-assembly.
      1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body and the front fender molding sub-assembly.
      2. Remove the release paper from the front fender molding sub-assembly.

        HINT:

        After removing the release paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      3. Engage the 3 clips and install the front fender molding sub-assembly.

    6. Using a 4 mm hexagon wrench, install the screw.
    7. Install the clip.
