Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR INJECTION SYSTEM POWER SOURCE)
    1. Disconnect the V10 or V11 VSV for air injection system connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3. Measure the voltage between terminal 1 of the VSV connector and body ground.

      Standard: 9 V or more

    4. Reconnect the VSV for air injection system connector.

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - VSV FOR AIR INJECTION SYSTEM)
    1. Check harness and connector (see ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP

  3. CHECK VSV (RESISTANCE)
    1. Disconnect the V10 or V11 VSV for air injection system connector.
    2. Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses from the VSV.
    3. Measure the resistance of the VSV terminals.

      Standard resistance

      VSV (RESISTANCE)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 33 to 39 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
1 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
2 - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the VSV for air injection system connector.
    5. Reconnect the vacuum hose.
