Inspection Procedure

HINT:

When using the intelligent tester, start from 1. When not using the intelligent tester, start from 2.

READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK POSITION SWITCH)
1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the intelligent tester main switch ON.
3. Select the DATA LIST mode on the intelligent tester.
4. Check the center differential lock switch condition displayed on the intelligent tester when pushing the center differential lock switch.
  OK:
  
  When the center differential lock switch pushed once:
  
  ON is displayed for the center differential lock position switch condition.
  
  When the center differential lock switch pushed twice:
  
  OFF is displayed for the center differential lock position switch condition.
NG: Go to step 3

OK: REPLACE SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU

CHECK SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU

Remove the suspension control ECU with connectors still connected.
Turn the ignition switch ON.

Measure the voltage between terminal EXI of the suspension control ECU connector and body ground when the center differential lock switch is pushed twice.

Standard voltage

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

S20-18 (EXI) - Body ground	Pushed once	Below 1.5 V
S20-18 (EXI) - Body ground	Pushed twice	9 to 14 V

NG: REPLACE SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU

OK: GO TO NEXT STEP

INSPECT CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK POSITION SWITCH

Disconnect the center differential lock position switch connector.
Remove the center differential lock position switch (see TRANSFER ASSEMBLY ).

Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of center differential lock switch connector when the center differential lock position switch pushed and released.

Standard resistance

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

1 - 2	Pushed	Below 1 Ω
1 - 2	Released	10 kΩ or higher

NG: REPLACE CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK POSITION SWITCH

OK: GO TO NEXT STEP

CHECK WIRE HARNESS (CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK POSITION SWITCH - SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU)
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

OK: REPLACE SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU
