Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN BUS LINES FOR SHORT TO B+ (DLC3 SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the J32 DLC3 sub bus line connector from the junction connector B side.
      NOTE:
      • Before disconnecting the connector, make a note of where it is connected.
      • Reconnect the connector to its original position.

    3. Measure the resistance of the DLC3.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D7-6 (CANH) - D7-16 (BAT) Ignition switch OFF 1 MΩ or higher
      D7-14 (CANL) - D7-16 (BAT) Ignition switch OFF 1 MΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE DLC3 SUB BUS LINE AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. CONNECT CONNECTOR 
    1. Reconnect the J32 DLC3 sub bus line connector to the junction connector B side.
  3. CHECK CAN BUS LINES FOR SHORT TO B+ (ECM MAIN BUS LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the J29 ECM main bus line connector from the junction connector B side.
      NOTE:
      • Before disconnecting the connector, make a note of where it is connected.
      • Reconnect the connector to its original position.

    3. Measure the resistance of the DLC3.

      Standard resistance 

      CAN BUS LINES FOR SHORT TO B+ (ECM MAIN BUS LINE)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D7-6 (CANH) - D7-16 (BAT) Ignition switch OFF 1 MΩ or higher
      D7-14 (CANL) - D7-16 (BAT) Ignition switch OFF 1 MΩ or higher

    OK: Go to step   8 

    NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  4. CONNECT CONNECTOR 
    1. Reconnect the J29 ECM main bus line connector to the junction connector B side.
  5. CHECK CAN BUS LINES FOR SHORT TO B+ (GATEWAY ECU MAIN BUS LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the J30 gateway ECU main bus line connector from the junction connector B side.
      NOTE:
      • Before disconnecting the connector, make a note of where it is connected.
      • Reconnect the connector to its original position.

    3. Measure the resistance of the DLC3.

      Standard resistance 

      CAN BUS LINES FOR SHORT TO B+ (GATEWAY ECU MAIN BUS LINE)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D7-6 (CANH) - D7-16 (BAT) Ignition switch OFF 1 MΩ or higher
      D7-14 (CANL) - D7-16 (BAT) Ignition switch OFF 1 MΩ or higher

    OK: Go to step   10 

    NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  6. CONNECT CONNECTOR 
    1. Reconnect the J30 gateway ECU main bus line connector to the junction connector B side.
  7. CHECK CAN BUS LINES FOR SHORT TO B+ (TRANSLATE ECU SUB BUS LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the T29 translate ECU connector.

    3. Measure the resistance of the DLC3.

      Standard resistance 

      CAN BUS LINES FOR SHORT TO B+ (TRANSLATE ECU SUB BUS LINE)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D7-6 (CANH) - D7-16 (BAT) Ignition switch OFF 1 MΩ or higher
      D7-14 (CANL) - D7-16 (BAT) Ignition switch OFF 1 MΩ or higher

    OK: REPLACE TRANSLATE ECU 

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSLATE ECU SUB BUS LINE AND CONNECTOR (CAN-H, CAN-L) 

  8. CONNECT CONNECTOR 
    1. Reconnect the J29 ECM main bus line connector to the junction connector B side.
  9. CHECK CAN BUS LINES FOR SHORT TO B+ (ECM MAIN BUS LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the E8 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance of the DLC3.

      Standard resistance 

      CAN BUS LINES FOR SHORT TO B+ (ECM MAIN BUS LINE)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D7-6 (CANH) - D7-16 (BAT) Ignition switch OFF 1 MΩ or higher
      D7-14 (CANL) - D7-16 (BAT) Ignition switch OFF 1 MΩ or higher

    OK: REPLACE ECM 

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE ECM MAIN BUS LINE AND CONNECTOR (CAN-H, CAN-L) 

  10. CONNECT CONNECTOR 
    1. Reconnect the J30 gateway ECU main bus line connector to the junction connector B side.
  11. CHECK CAN BUS LINES FOR SHORT TO B+ (GATEWAY ECU MAIN BUS LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the G4 gateway ECU connector.

    3. Measure the resistance of the DLC3.

      CAN BUS LINES FOR SHORT TO B+ (GATEWAY ECU MAIN BUS LINE)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D7-6 (CANH) - D7-16 (BAT) Ignition switch OFF 1 MΩ or higher
      D7-14 (CANL) - D7-16 (BAT) Ignition switch OFF 1 MΩ or higher

    OK: REPLACE GATEWAY ECU 

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE GATEWAY ECU MAIN BUS LINE AND CONNECTOR (CAN-H, CAN-L)
